Cell phone plays a very important role in our daily life nowadays. Some people even have more than one cell phones for different purposes, such as one for family while one for business.
There are more than 6 billion people on this planet and about 60% of them have a cellphone subscription. So that is more than 4 billion phones on this planet. On average, each consumer will use their cell phone for less than a year. At that moment, those phone will consumed 4,221 Mega Joules of Energy which is also equivalent to 32 gallons of gas, and emit hundred kilos of Carbon Dioxide.
For every 515 cell phones recycled, it can saves enough energy to power one home for a year. So, if all these thrown away cell phones were recycled, it would save enough energy to power 272,000 homes.
