How to Convert Images or Scanned PDF files to Text?

Posted by: admin , March 25, 2009

Have you wondered why you take a few days to copy and type the whole text from those scanned images or scanned PDF files whereas your friends simply need only few minutes to get the job done, even though both of you have the same file types? Well, probably they have their own techniques to do so.

So, if you want to challenge them in terms of speed to make your scanned images into editable text, this is when OCR Terminal (a free online ‘Optical Character Recognition’ tool) comes in handy.

With OCR Terminal, you can convert scanned images and PDF files into searchable text.
In other words, it simply extracts text from any image or PDF files.

Web based free OCR service that allows you to convert scanned images into editable text:
– pdf to doc
– jpeg to doc
– any image file to Word documents

How to use?
First, select the PDF file or an image from where you want to convert into text and click Upload.
Once you have uploaded, a preview window will appear, you can verify the uploaded file there.
Extracted text can then be downloaded in txt, doc, pdf, or rtf formats, or directly emailed with a thumbnail of the uploaded image.

Currently the site only allows text extraction for English language documents, but it is working on extending this functionality across other languages as well.

The service is free, simply register and use. No complex knowledge or software is required. Enjoy!
