You can now Meet Pepper, a Japanese Humanoid Robot.
It functions as an unusual leader for exercise class at a nursing home. The sleeks, talking robot gives instructions to the elderly living there. Currently, there are up to 40 elderly people live at the Shintomi nursing home. 20 robots were just introduced to the facility.
Besides, there is also the Pet robot dog named AIBO & a robot seal named PARO. Residents in Japan can cuddle and pet them like their real-life counterparts. The robots have been found by the Japanese local government to overcome labour shortages problem.
People aged older account for 27.2% of the total population which is set to grow at almost 40% by 2065. Experts say reliance and attachment to robots will increase in Japan which has an ageing society.
The robots kept the elderly company in an attempt to alleviate dementia and also help the worker with daily tasks which can be physically taxing.
